  Beautiful Family Getaway

  We spent Thanksgiving here with our adult kids - beach, snorkeling, birdsong, places to explore. And, the Kahuku Grill hamburgers and shrimp truck were favorites, as well as the Palm Terrace buffet and Ola's at the resort. The whole experience was great.

  We traveled for a destination wedding. We loved the condo. The furniture was appropriate, the location was perfect and we felt it was truly a relaxing vacation because we stayed at the condo instead of a hotel. It was nice having two bathrooms. We would stay in this condo again if given the opportunity to travel to Oahu again.

  We had a strong wind storm and power outage while we were there and wish the condo had had flash lights and candles. Neighbors were great and helped out --also wish the Cd player had worked as we brought some great music. We were there for the North Shore surfing and it seemed others were too --so we had fun even though we had to beg the resort for a flash light that was reserved for hotel, not condo users.

  The Estates at Turtle Bay have great pretensions as a luxury resort, but it falls far short of luxury. In general, our condo was showing its age, and was somewhat seedy and shabby. Cleaning was hit-or-miss, with soiled spots on the couch that stained my wife's pants. It is unheard of not to have a hair dryer available in a condo. Kitchen cabinets were literally falling apart, with doors that no longer could be closed. The screening on the back porch was falling apart. Other areas of the unit were simply dingy. The unit needs a thorough overhaul.
